Why is in news? 'A-HELP' Programme and Infertility Camp for Livestock under Inclusive Development at Narmada, Gujarat launched by Shri Parshottam Rupala

Under the auspices of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Union Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairying has unveiled the 'A-HELP' (Accredited Agent for Health and Extension of Livestock Production) programme along with an Infertility Camp in the State of Gujarat.

A-HELP' programme and the Infertility Camp can mark a significant stride towards empowering women, enhancing livestock productivity, and advancing the socio-economic landscape of the region.

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, is spearheading these initiatives as part of the Pashudhan Jagrati Abhiyaan under Inclusive Development.

About the programme:

It is an initiative of the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and the Ministry of Rural Development.

‘A-HELP’ are community-based women activists, who assist veterinarians in local departmental activities and help livestock farmers to take loans for entrepreneurship development, fill out applications, mark the ear tagging of animals and register them in the INAF portal and help with insurance etc.

They assist in implementing various schemes and in providing information to the farmers at the grassroots level.

They will give vital contributions to preventing various infectious diseases of animals, artificial insemination under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), tagging animals and animal insurance.

Pashudhan Jagrati Abhiyaan:

Pashudhan Jagruti Abhiyaan is an awareness programme launched by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

It is organized as part of the Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahostav to increase farmers’ understanding of the latest practices and techniques in animal husbandry and dairy farming.

The crux of this campaign lies in equipping farmers with knowledge and resources that address critical areas of livestock health, disease management, and animal infertility concerns.
