Why in news?

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) has started its first executive training program for the aviation sector at the Asian Institute of Transport Development (AITD) at Dwaraka, New Delhi.

About Gati Shakti Vishwavidhyalaya(GSV):

ØIt is a Central University established through an Act of Parliament in 2022.

ØIt replaces the National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI) and is sponsored by the Ministry of Railways.

ØThe Chancellor of GSV is the Union Minister of Railways.

ØGSV is the first-of-its-kind university with a mandate to create high-quality talent for the transportation and logistics sectors.

ØIts significance lies in fulfilling the objectives of the National Developmental Plans, including the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and National Logistics Policy 2022, covering railways, shipping, ports, highways, roads, waterways, and aviation.

PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021:

ØPM Gati Shakti - National Master Plan for Multi-modal Connectivity, essentially a digital platform to bring 16 Ministries including Railways and Roadways together for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.

ØThe multi-modal connectivity will provide integrated and seamless connectivity for movement of people, goods and services from one mode of transport to another.

ØIt will facilitate the last mile connectivity of infrastructure and also reduce travel time for people.

PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP) was launched on 13th October 2021 for providing multimodal connectivity infrastructure to various economic zones.

The approach is driven by 7 engines, namely:

6Mass Transport

7Logistics Infrastructure

ØThe Gati Shakti scheme will subsume the Rs 110 lakh crore National Infrastructure Pipeline that was launched in 2019.

ØIt also aims to have 11 industrial corridors and two new defence corridors - one in Tamil Nadu and other in Uttar Pradesh.

The scheme is in synergy with the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP).

ØThe NMP has been announced to provide a clear framework for monetisation and give potential investors a ready list of assets to generate investment interest.
