Why is in news? Ministry of Panchayati Raj wins GOLD AWARD under the National Awards for e-Governance
e-Panchayat Mission Mode Project (e-Gram Swaraj and Audit Online) of Ministry of Panchayati Raj has won the GOLD AWARD under the category "Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering for Digital Transformation" of the National Awards for e-Governance.
The award is a recognition of the excellent and exemplary work done by Team e-Governance and supported by Team NIC-MoPR.
Various stakeholders, especially Panchayati Raj Institutions which adopted e-Panchayat applications very fast, have helped in making the e-Panchayat Mission Mode Project successful by strengthening the Panchayati Raj System and making it effective, transparent and efficient.
National Awards for e-Governance:
To recognize and promote excellence in implementation of e-Governance initiatives, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grivences presents National Awards every year.
The Awards are presented generally during an event of two-days, viz. the National Conference on e-Governance. These Awards are being given since 2003.
All Central Ministries/Departments, State/UT Governments, Districts, Local Bodies, Central & State Government Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Academic/Research Institutions (Government and Non –Government) are eligible to apply for these awards.
Categories:
The categories under the Award Scheme of the National Awards for e-Governance 2021-22 have been revised. The 5 award categories are:
Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering for Digital Transformation - Central level initiatives, State/UT level initiatives
Excellence in providing Citizen Centric Delivery - Central level initiatives, State/UT level initiatives
Excellence in District level initiative in e-Governance - North-East States + Hill States; UTs (including Delhi); Other States
Outstanding research on Citizen Centric Services by Academic/Research Institutions - Academic/ Research Institutions (Government and Non-Government)
Excellence in adopting emerging technologies - Central Ministries/Departments, State/UT Governments, Central and State Government PSUs
Purpose of Award:
Recognize achievements in the area of e-Governance
Disseminate knowledge on effective methods of designing and implementing sustainable e-Governance initiatives
Encourage incremental innovations in successful e-Governance solutions
Promote and exchange experiences in solving problems, mitigating risks, resolving issues and planning for success.
