Why is in news? Shri Narayan Rane hails the announcement of the VishwakarmaYojana by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi onthe 77th Independence Day
Hosting the 49 Khadi artisans and 57 artisans (Vishwakarmas) along with their spouses from all over the country who had come to witness the 77th Independence Dayat his residence in New Delhi he said the scheme will support the Vishwakarmas who work with their hands using tools and will be launched on VishwakarmaJayanti with an initial allocation of Rs. 13000 – 15000 crore.
About the scheme:
Prime Minister Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman (PM-VIKAS) scheme has been announced for traditional artisans and craftsmen in the budget 2023-24.
A package of assistance has been conceptualized for encouraging traditional arts and handicrafts.
It will enable the country’s artisans to improve the quality, scale, and reach of their products, integrating them with the Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSME) value chain
To help the artisans to improve their products’ quality, scale, and reach by providing financial support, advanced skill training in modern digital techniques, and efficient green technologies and thereby integrating them with local and global markets through the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) value chain linkage
The plan will give the craftspeople financial assistance.
There will be held training and skill development programmes for traditional and ancient crafts. People will be pushed to pick up the skill.
The training programmes will teach the most recent technological abilities. The newest technologies will be taught to artisans so they can produce work that is more productive and profitable. This must be done without interfering with the craft-making tradition’s established procedures.
