August 17th marked the Death Anniversary of Freedom Fighter Madan Lal Dhingra
He was influenced by Shyamji Krishna Verma and VD Savarkar
He found out that William Hutt Curzon Wyllie was the Head of secret police because of whom, the freedom fighters in London were targetted.
Dhingra shot British army officer Sir William Hutt Curzon Wyllie in UK in July 1909.
He is the first Indian to kill a British officer in England
Following a brief trial, he was hanged to death on August 17, 1909.
Dhingra was disowned for his political activities by his father Gitta Mall, who was the Chief Medical Officer in Amritsar, who went so far as to publish his decision in newspaper advertisements
He was a part of India House and The Abhinav Bharat Society in London
