Union Home Minister have inaugurated two-day National Security Strategies (NSS) Conference 2022, in New Delhi
The NSS Conference brings a unique mix of top leadership addressing national security challenges alongside cutting edge Police officers/Security practitioners and experts from specialized fields.
Deliberations were to be held on various subjects of national security, including counter-terrorism, radicalisation, issues pertaining to crypto currencies, counter rogue drone technology and challenges posed by Maoist outfits.
In the background of this, National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), developed by NCRB was launched.
This System will help in quick and easy disposal of cases with the help of centralized finger print database.
The Indian Version of Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) is called FACTS, which was co-developed, by NCRB and CMC Ltd.,India,
The current version of FACTS is 5.0.
The system uses Image Processing and Pattern Recognition technique to capture, encode, store &match fingerprints, including comparison of chance prints.
FACTS also stores non-fingerprint information or demographic details like gender, region and conviction details.
