Why is in news? NADA to develop Apps to assist athletes

The National Anti-Doping Agency of India (NADA) is developing Apps to assist athletes to verify medicines with prohibited substances.

NADA India is also in process of sensitising 20 Dope Control Officers to specialise in collecting samples of Athletes with Disabilities in keeping with the different needs.

National Anti-Doping Agency:

National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) was set up as registered society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 on November 24, 2005 with a mandate for Dope free sports in India.

The primary objectives are to implement anti-doping rules as per World Anti-Doping Agency code, regulate dope control programme, to promote education and research and creating awareness about doping and its ill effects.

World Anti-Doping Agency:

WADA was established in 1999 as an international independent agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport.

WADA’s governance and funding is based on equal partnership between the Sport Movement and Governments of the world.

WADA’s primary role is to develop, harmonize and coordinate anti-doping rules and policies across all sports and countries.

Our key activities include scientific and social science research; education; intelligence & investigations; development of anti-doping capacity; and monitoring of compliance with the World Anti-Doping Program.
