India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from west Rajasthan on Monday (September 26).

Full withdrawal and Arrival of North East Monsoon: Mid October

Official Period for estimating SW monsoon Rainfall: June1 to September 30.

Criteria for considering Monsoon Withdrawal

Cessation of rainfall activity over the area for continuous 5 days.

Establishment of anticyclone in the lower troposphere (850 hPa and below)

Considerable reduction in moisture content as inferred from satellite water vapour imageries and tephigrams.

Delay in withdrawal

Usual withdrawal date: September 17.

Total SW Monsoon rainfall as of September 25.

5% below the normal
